Many individuals in Almo who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in Almo also become involved in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients often turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate as a way to ease the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric issue. Some addicted individuals aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they make it to a drug treatment center is this sort of issue brought to light. This in itself can help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get treatment for both disorders so that they have a strong chance of remaining clean and sober and mentally healthy in the future.
