Many people in Boston, MA. who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Boston, Massachusetts also take part in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate in an attempt to relieve the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric condition. Some addicts aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they make it to a drug rehabilitation center is this sort of psychological condition uncovered. This in itself can help resolve addiction issues and put the person in a position to receive rehabilitation for both conditions so that they have a good chance of remaining abstinent and psychologically stable in the future.
