Many individuals in Castile who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Castile, New York also take part in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients often turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate as a way to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric issue. Some addicted individuals aren't even diagnosed with a disorder, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug rehabilitation center is this sort of issue brought to light. This alone can help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get rehabilitation for both conditions so that they have a strong chance of remaining clean and sober and psychologically stable in the future.
