Many individuals in Center Point who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Center Point also take part in substance abuse at some time in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients typically turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate in an attempt to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychological issue. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a disorder, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug treatment program is this sort of issue brought to light. This alone can sometimes help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to receive treatment for both disorders so that they have a good chance of remaining clean and sober and mentally stable in the future.
