Many people in Comstock who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in Comstock also take part in substance abuse at some time in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate as a way to ease the symptoms of an underlying psychological issue. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug treatment facility is this sort of issue uncovered. This in itself can help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get rehabilitation for both disorders so that they have a strong chance of remaining clean and sober and psychologically healthy in the future.
