Detroit - Dual Diagnosis Clients with Mental and Substance Abuse Problems
Many people in Detroit, Michigan who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. In fact, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Detroit also become involved in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients typically turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate in an attempt to ease the symptoms of an underlying psychological disorder. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they make it to a drug rehab program is this sort of issue brought to light. This in itself can help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get treatment for both disorders so that they have a strong chance of remaining clean and sober and psychologically stable in the future.
