Many people in Finland who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in Finland, Minnesota also become involved in substance abuse at some time in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients typically turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate in an attempt to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychological issue. Some addicted individuals aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug rehab center is this sort of issue discovered. This alone can help resolve addiction issues and put the person in a position to receive rehabilitation for both conditions so that they have a good chance of remaining abstinent and mentally healthy in the future.
