Many people in Home who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. In fact, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in Home also become involved in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients often turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate as a way to relieve the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric disorder. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug treatment facility is this sort of issue discovered. This in itself can help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to receive rehabilitation for both disorders so that they have a good chance of remaining clean and sober and psychologically stable in the future.
