Many individuals in Java who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Java also take part in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate in an attempt to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric disorder. Some addicted individuals aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they make it to a drug rehabilitation facility is this sort of psychological condition uncovered. This alone can sometimes help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get rehabilitation for both disorders so that they have a good chance of remaining abstinent and psychologically healthy in the future.
