Many addicted individuals in Moscow who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Moscow, Ohio also become involved in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients often turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate in an attempt to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric issue. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a disorder, and only when they make it to a drug rehabilitation program is this sort of issue brought to light. This alone can sometimes help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get treatment for both conditions so that they have a good chance of remaining abstinent and mentally stable in the future.
