Many people in Mount Calvary who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. In fact, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in Mount Calvary also take part in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate as a way to relieve the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric issue. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a disorder, and only when they make it to a drug treatment program is this sort of psychological condition brought to light. This in itself can sometimes help resolve addiction issues and put the person in a position to receive rehabilitation for both conditions so that they have a good chance of remaining clean and sober and psychologically healthy in the future.
