Many people in Mylo who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Mylo, North Dakota also become involved in substance abuse at some time in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate as a way to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric disorder. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they make it to a drug treatment facility is this sort of psychological condition discovered. This in itself can help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to receive rehabilitation for both disorders so that they have a strong chance of remaining abstinent and psychologically healthy in the future.
