Drug Treatment for court appointed clients are for people in Ontario who have been required to attend drug treatment as part of a sentence which has been given because of an alcohol or drug related criminal activity. Court appointed clients in Ontario are often sentenced to enroll into a drug treatment facility in lieu of other justice actions such as jail time and heavy fines. This is sometimes the case with first time offenders. This method of rehabilitating the criminal rather than punishing and jailing them has shown to be very effective in Ontario, not only in getting the individual abstinent or sober, but also in preventing the same alcohol or drug related crimes in the future.
