Many people in Panama, Oklahoma who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. In fact, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in Panama also become involved in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients typically turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate as a way to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychological disorder. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a psychological condition, and only when they make it to a drug treatment facility is this sort of issue discovered. This in itself can sometimes help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get rehabilitation for both conditions so that they have a good chance of remaining abstinent and psychologically healthy in the future.
