Many individuals in Poland, Indiana who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. In fact, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Poland also become involved in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients often turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate as a way to relieve the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric disorder. Some addicts aren't even diagnosed with a disorder, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug rehabilitation center is this sort of issue brought to light. This in itself can help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get treatment for both disorders so that they have a good chance of remaining clean and sober and mentally stable in the future.
