Oxycodone can be prescribed for various degrees of pain and it works in the human body the same way as an opiate like Heroin or Morphine. It is prescribed and known by many familiar names; the most familiar being; Oxycotin. When this drug enters the human body it appears to desensitize the certain brain area responsible for communicating pain to the body. When this area of the brain is no longer sensative to the pain, a chemicle called Dopamine is released in the brain. This Dopamine is a neurotransmitter and is released effectively putting a stop to the pain. Oxycodone is a very effective drug for relieving pain. This addiction can be very difficult to stop and can broaden into various signs of drug useage within th body.

A person may be prescribed this medication for severe pain. In some cases the body may become physically conditioned to the drug. This in and of itself does not mean the person is addicted to the drug. On the contrary, it is the bodys normal reaction to long term use of the drug and the physical changes the drug may cause. Oxycode dependence and Oxycodone addiction are two very distinct and different medical conditions. Oxycodone addiction is very serious and is the result of a person's compulsive use of the drug. This compulsive use, in most cases becomes all consuming. This all consuming use can and does interfere with their normal functions of daily life.

The symptoms of Oxycodone addiction can have a very detrimental effect on the body. The effects of the drug undoubtedley will lead to extremely harmful effects on the human body. The signs of the addiction must be watched for so that the proper treatment can be initiated quickly. The Oxycodone addiction signs felt by the individual can be experienced if the dosage is lowered. As a result of the lowered dosage or sudden ceasing of ingesting the drug, there are numerous signs that may be evident. These signs may be experienced in various degree by the individual. Some of which include:

  • Possible sleep disturbances

  • Possible abdominal pain or cramping

There are numerous other signs of addiction to Oxycodone. The most important factor, however, is to be observant of these symptoms so that appropriate intervention can take place. Without intervention the individuals health can deteriorate quickly. Naturally, the symptoms may vary from person to person. The treatment, however is essentially the same.

Naturally the most important step here for the desired outcome is detoxification. This detoxification should be under a qualified treatment program. The desired outcome is to remove the drug from the body totally. A cleansing of the body in removing the drug. Through a qualified detoxification program this cleansing can be monitered to assure the mental and physical health of the individual. After this cleansing, supportive counseling and monitering should follow to assure the best outcome of the treatment. Counseling and monitering are, in essence to assure no relapse.

Addiction is very detrimental to the physical and mental health of the individual. Proper monitering when the drug is prescribed for pain is required. When dosage is monitered effectively, addiction can in many cases be eliminated before onset. This is however, not always the case. Thus, if addiction is noted; proper treatment, counseling and monitering become the preferred tools to cleanse the body. Recognizing the signs of addiction then becomes very important for the overall outcome of the individual.
