Individuals in State Center with DUI/DWI are sometimes court ordered to attend an alcohol or drug rehabilitation center, usually when they are first time offenders and in lieu of other stiff penalties. Although being sentenced with a DUI/DWI in State Center usually comes with substantial fines and even incarceration in some instances, the criminal justice system is occasionally more prone to help rehabilitate the individual instead of penalizing them. Allowing people with DUI/DWI to take part in a drug and alcohol treatment facility as a substitute to other forms of justice has shown to be effective in keeping individuals in State Center out of the criminal justice system because of DUI/DWI in the future.
